It only takes a few minutes to answer the questionnaire below.
In June 2012, the Earth Summit will be held in Rio again to capitalize on the success of the conference twenty years ago in ’92. At that conference, three major international conventions (on climate, biodiversity and desertification) were born, the concept of sustainable development and 27 principles that has irrigated, for 20 years, the ensemble of international law. During this summit, Agenda 21, was also born, now implemented by over 6000 local authorities and the recognition of the role of private enterprises in the necessary transformation of economic models of development to become sustainable.
The Rio+20 conference intends to define lines of action for the future. In this respect, the question is to mobilize the private sector to set global commitments, complementary to those of nation-states, to achieve the objectives of sustainable growth.
To seize this issue, the World Forum Lille is participating in the "Trajectories of Sustainable Development" initiative launched by the Cerdd (Resource Centre for Sustainable Development) to celebrate its ten years of existence dedicated to the spreading of sustainable development in the Nord-Pas de Calais. This demands a lot of work in the collecting and sharing of know-how, but also in finding the needs and ambitions for the next 10 years.
The World Forum Lille proposes to extend this inquiry to all companies participating in the World Forum Lille, in order to contribute to shape a more sustainable and fair future by working on the two official themes for Rio+20:
The green economy in the context of sustainable development and the eradication of poverty.
The green economy is an economy that leads to improved human well-being and social equity while significantly reducing environmental risks and lack of resources.
The institutional framework of sustainable development.
Good governance at the international level is fundamental to achieving sustainable development. To ensure that there is a dynamic and enabling international economy, it is important to promote economic governance at the global level to oversee the operation modes in international finance, trade, technology and of investment that affect the development prospects of developing countries.
