Why this theme?
5 years after it was first launched, the World Forum Lille’s vision is to bring businesses to generate more value in a more well-balanced and more sustainable way, to encourage them to become pioneers, to build a better world rather than keep it as it is, or even worse – contribute to its decline.
For the public, businesses only create riches for them, to the detriment of the community !
It is urgent to restore trust, to show that businesses generate value for the community. Throughout the world, companies have already taken this path, why not all the others?
Everyone has the capacity to redesign its economic model and incorporate this concept of creation of shared value, by carefully listening to its stakeholders and taking its environment into account:
•Creation of human assets by developing the involvement of employees: diversity, training, health & well-being, dialogue, sharing results, capital.
•Creation of economic assets by developing products and services taking into account consumers’ expectations, the manufacturing and distribution process, and life cycle.
•Creation of environmental value through the sustainable management of natural resources and biodiversity.
•Creating value locally by interacting with people and supporting the local economy.
•Creation of fair value using responsible procurement policies and applying ethical rules.
•Creation of community -oriented value by rising to critical global challenges: health, poverty, access to basic services.
The time when the balance sheet alone reflected the value of a company has gone. Today, it is
critical to introduce indicators to enable managers to assess the impact of their CSR policies on their global performance, i.e economic but also societal. Creating, sharing and assessing: these are the key words of the World Forum Lille for 2011, where businesses will be invited to dare to generate value!
