Introduction

The second major event of the World Forum Lille took place between the 23rd and 25th OCtober 2007 on the theme « Diversity and equal opportunity in the workplace »

All over the world, companies are confronted to the universal question of diversity. Handicap, man-woman equality, ethnic origins, age, social origin, health… are all issues that affect all countries without exception but are lived differently on different continents. At the heart of the international meeting the themes of the five plenary sessions and the six workshops have been chosen to paint a current and transversal portrait of diversity and encourage exchanges.

The objectives of this first international meetings are to:

- Promote diversity and equal opportunity in the workplace.

- Broaden the reflection on this theme for economic actors.

- Highlight good practices observed in companies on the five continents - to draw inspiration from them, compare them and emulate them.

- Show that diversity in a company is source of economic performance.

- Prepare the chapter on diversity for the manifesto.
